Coping and Rebuilding are programs to help people manage the trauma of separation, divorce, or widowhood. Volunteer facilitators, each of whom has participated in the programs, work with groups of participants to give support and share experiences. The Arlington Diocese Office for Family Life sponsors both programs. Participants of any religious affiliation are very welcome. Fairfax - Sharing Hope. Sharing Hope is a support group for men and women going through marital separation and/or divorce. Newcomers are warmly welcome, and there is no fee. Meetings take place from 8:00 P.M. to 9:30 P.M. on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of every month at Historic Church Hall, St. Mary of Sorrows Catholic Church, Fairfax Station, VA. Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia (CCEVA) serves the eastern portion of the Diocese. Their descriptions of provided services are undergoing redevelopment and currently do not mention divorced and separated. However, previous lists have mentioned "Divorced and Separated Support Groups" without providing details. Classes they provide include Cooperative Parenting Classes for individuals who are separated, separating, divorced, or divorcing. CCEVA has many offices throughout the eastern portion of the diocese — please contact a local office near you or the main office for more information. |

Virginia Beach - A Separate Peace. "A Separate Peace" is a support group for divorced or separated Catholics who are searching for understanding, validation, healing, and peace. The group offers monthly meetings with presentations and discussions on pertinent topics and an opportunity to give and receive support, to share resources and experiences. Participants are welcome and encouraged to take an active part in suggesting topics and ideas for future presentations and meetings.
